My Friend, Daniel Baldwin
Posted on November 9, 2006
Hi gang…
My most adorable husband, Steven, sent me this link in the morning from yahoo news. Seems like my buddy, Daniel Baldwin, is in trouble again.
This really is beyond heartbreaking for me. I know how crazy he came off on Celebrity Fit Club 1 with me, but I am here to tell you that underneath all of this, he is a really smart, great guy who is just really emotionally scarred from childhood. I hope that he can turn his life around more than anything and I know personally how hard it is to do…but I also know that with his determination, he can do it…if he focuses his anger into making himself well.
All of us who deal with addictions, whether they be food or drug related know the pain and fear associated with abstinence of certain items from our life. We all have our struggles…but, at the end of the day…with a ton of work and being sick and tired of being and feeling sick and tired, we can perservere!!!

I’m currently working at a 90 day treatment program and going to school to become an alcohol and drug counselor, and from what I have learned, the person has to treat more than their addiction to the drugs or alcohol, they must treat the reasons for the addiction. Without counseling and a little delving into the past on the addicts part, you can’t get anything accomplished. I see that especially working where I do because people will work on the addiction only, they refuse to work on why they are addicted, what could have happened in their pasts, and those people will stay clean…..for 90 days, because they are in treatment being “watched”….without a strong support system and theraputic counselling system in place before exit, these people won’t last a week! I feel bad knowing that, while I am giving them praise for staying sober here, in the back of my mind the cold hard facts are that about 80-90% of people will relapse, possibly more! Addiction is a horrible thing, but IT CAN BE BEATEN! It’s scary, but the person has to be willing to work on themselves a lot to beat it!
By the way, Wendy, you are a wonderful lady and your humor, smile and warm laugh really makes you stand out from the rest of the world! You are an awesome chick, and a role model for plus sized women! Good job on Cavuto!
